A Google Classroom alternative for running the whole school

Google Classroom makes it easy for teachers to share and grade classwork. Schools that also need official records, a parent portal, admissions and payments may want a platform that covers the rest of the school year. Ilmoria does that in Arabic and English, and works with the Google accounts you already have.

About Google Classroom

Google Classroom is Google's tool for teachers to create, organise, share and grade classwork. It launched in 2014 and is part of Google Workspace for Education, where it is included in every edition. Teachers give feedback with built-in rubrics and comments, and Classroom can keep guardians informed about upcoming and missing work. It works closely with other Google tools such as Docs, Drive, Forms and Meet.

When Google Classroom may suit you better

  • Your teachers mainly need to share classwork and give feedback, and your school already runs on Google Workspace for Education.
  • You don't need admissions, payments, transcripts or a parent portal in the same system.
  • You prefer to keep everything inside Google's own apps, such as Docs, Drive and Forms.

Why teams look for an alternative

You need final grades, transcripts and certificates

Letter grades that teachers confirm and administrators lock, transcripts with GPA and credits, and certificates with QR verification.

You want parents to talk to the school in one place

Categorised conversations with teachers, the school office or administration, plus invoices and receipts for each child.

You want admissions and payments in the same system

Applications, placement tests, enrolment documents and invoices sit alongside teaching.

You want exams with integrity monitoring

Ten question types, time and attempt limits, integrity scores and flagged attempts for teacher review.

Where Ilmoria is a strong fit

Keep your Google sign-in

Students and staff sign in with their Google accounts, and live classes can use Google Meet links.

Grades that become records

The gradebook turns coursework into confirmed, locked final grades, then into transcripts with GPA and credits.

Parents in the picture

The parent portal shows each child's progress and final grades, with conversations and invoices in one place.

The school office included

Admissions and enrolment, placement tests, e-signed documents, invoices and receipts sit next to teaching.

Arabic and English on every screen

Full right-to-left Arabic, switchable by each user, with wording your staff can correct.

Moving from Google Classroom

A move from Google Classroom is often simpler than most, because students and staff can keep signing in with Google. Export class lists and grades as CSV files and import them with your courses into Ilmoria. Upload documents and PDFs from Drive, and rebuild lessons and quizzes in the course builder; there is no automatic import of Classroom content. Pilot with one grade for a term, then train teachers, office staff and parents. Book a demo to plan the switch.

Questions buyers ask

Can we keep using Google accounts with Ilmoria?

Yes. Students, teachers and staff can sign in to Ilmoria with their existing Google accounts, so nobody needs another password. Microsoft sign-in is also available, and SAML single sign-on is offered on enterprise plans. Parents can sign in with Google, Microsoft or an email address and password.

Does Ilmoria work with Google Meet?

Yes. Teachers schedule live classes for a section or a whole grade and attach a Google Meet link, or a Zoom or Microsoft Teams link if you prefer. Students see every session in their weekly timetable, and teachers can export their schedules. Meetings run in the Google Meet account you already use.

Can we import our Google Classroom classes?

Not automatically. There is no direct import of Classroom content. Class lists and grades move across as CSV files, documents and PDFs from Drive upload directly, and lessons and quizzes are rebuilt in the course builder. Because sign-in can stay on Google, students and teachers keep the same login.

What does Ilmoria add for school leaders?

A view across the whole school. Leaders see every grade, section and teacher, approve final grades and transcripts, and follow admissions and payments. They can also “log in as” any user, in update or read-only mode, to see exactly what that person sees when helping with a problem.

How is Ilmoria priced?

Ilmoria uses annual plans priced per active learner, in three tiers: Starter, Growth and Enterprise. Your quote depends on the number of learners and the features you need, such as SAML single sign-on or API access. Plans are quoted on request, so contact us for a quote based on your school's size and needs.
