Know your students are safe, from home to school and back

Student Safety shows on a map when each student arrives, leaves and rides the school bus, and tells parents and Student Affairs the moment something isn’t right: a student who is late, leaves early, stops somewhere unusual, presses SOS or whose smartwatch reports a worrying heart rate. It works only with each parent’s consent, only around the school day, and location history is deleted automatically after 30 days at most.

A live map in your school’s colours

The campus, buses and students on one clear map, with arrivals, departures and how each student is travelling.

Alerts that reach the right people

Lateness, leaving early, unusual stops, SOS and heart-rate alarms go to parents, Student Affairs and administrators.

Parents decide

Nothing is shared until a parent agrees, and only on school days, around school hours.

Arrivals, departures and the trip in between

The school marks its campus on the map and sets its school days and hours. From two hours before the day starts until two hours after it ends, the student’s phone shares its location from Ilmoria, and the platform records when the student enters and leaves the campus and whether they are walking, in a car or on the school bus. Student Affairs sees on one map who is on campus, who is on the way and who hasn’t shared yet. Parents see their own child, and nobody else.

  • Campus area, school days and hours set by the school
  • Entered, left, and travelling on foot, by car or by bus
  • One map for Student Affairs; each parent sees only their child

Lateness and leaving early, handled for you

If a student hasn’t arrived when the day starts, the student gets a reminder first, and their parents are told if they still aren’t there. Students excused in attendance are left out. If a student leaves the campus during the school day, an alarm rings for parents, Student Affairs and administrators. A long stop somewhere unusual on the way also alerts parents, and parents can save familiar places, such as home or a relative’s house, so those never raise an alert.

  • Late: a reminder to the student, then a message to parents
  • Leaving early: an alarm for parents, Student Affairs and administrators
  • Unusual stops, with familiar places that parents save

School buses on the map

The school adds its buses and the students who ride each one. The driver opens the bus trip page on a phone, and the bus appears on the map, updating every few seconds. Students are marked on board when they get on and off, so parents see their child’s bus on the map and know when their child boarded, and Student Affairs sees every bus and who is on it.

  • Each bus with its students
  • The bus’s position from the driver’s phone, every few seconds
  • Boarded and got off, for parents and Student Affairs

SOS and smartwatch heart-rate alarms

A student who needs help presses and holds SOS on their phone. Their location is sent at once and an alarm rings for their parents, Student Affairs and administrators. A heart-rate band or watch connects to the child’s phone by Bluetooth: if the heart rate goes above or below the limits the school sets, the same alarm rings. Staff acknowledge each alarm, so everyone can see it is being handled.

  • SOS with the student’s location, in one press
  • Heart-rate limits set by the school, from a band or watch paired by Bluetooth
  • Alarms acknowledged by staff, so nobody wonders if someone is on it

Privacy built in

Student Safety stays off until an administrator switches it on. Nothing about a student is shared until a parent agrees, separately for location and heart rate, and a parent can withdraw at any time, which deletes what was collected. Location is recorded only on school days, around school hours, never at night or on days off. Only the student’s parents, Student Affairs and administrators can see it, and locations and readings are deleted after the period the school chooses, 30 days at most. More on how Ilmoria protects data is on the security page.

  • Parent consent for location and heart rate, withdrawn at any time
  • Only on school days, around school hours
  • Deleted automatically after 30 days at most

Common questions

Do parents have to agree?

Yes. Nothing about a student is shared until one of their parents agrees, separately for location and for heart rate. A parent can withdraw at any time, and what was collected is deleted.

When is a student’s location recorded?

Only on the school’s school days, from two hours before the school day starts until two hours after it ends. Outside that window, nothing is recorded.

Who receives the alerts?

Lateness and unusual stops go to the student’s parents. Leaving the campus during the day, SOS and heart-rate alarms ring for the parents, Student Affairs and administrators, and staff acknowledge them.

Do we need special devices?

No. A parent shows a QR code in Ilmoria and scans it with the child’s phone, which then shares its location; buses appear from the driver’s phone. A heart-rate band or watch, paired with the phone by Bluetooth, is only needed for heart-rate alarms.

How long is location history kept?

For the period the school chooses, 30 days at most. After that, locations and heart-rate readings are deleted automatically.

Which plans include Student Safety?

Student Safety is available to schools on every plan, and an administrator switches it on. Plan details are on the pricing page, and you can try it in the free trial.
