An English and Arabic LMS for schools and colleges in Australia

أستراليا

Ilmoria is an LMS for Australian schools, colleges and training providers that teach in English and need Arabic too: Islamic independent schools, community language schools, senior secondary Arabic classes, university Arabic programmes and RTOs with Arabic-speaking learners. Lessons, exams, grades, admissions and parent contact run in English, and any user can switch every screen to Arabic, right to left.

Education and training in Australia

States and territories run schools

Schooling is a state and territory responsibility. ACARA develops the Australian Curriculum, which states and territories implement or adapt, and each has its own authority for registering non-government schools and awarding senior certificates, such as the HSC in New South Wales and the VCE in Victoria. Non-government schools, Catholic and independent, teach a large share of students, and independent schools include a number of Islamic schools.

A calendar-year school year

The school year runs from late January or early February to December, usually in four terms. Higher education providers are regulated by TEQSA, and most vocational training providers, the registered training organisations (RTOs), by ASQA. Schools, universities and RTOs all need clear records of results and completions.

Arabic in Australia

Arabic is one of the most widely spoken languages at home in Australia after English, especially in Sydney and Melbourne. It is taught in Islamic schools, community language schools and some government schools, offered as a senior secondary subject in several states, and studied at universities.

Learning management for schools and universities in Australia

  • English for staff, Arabic for families who want it

Staff work in English, and any parent, student or Arabic teacher can switch every screen to Arabic, fully right to left, without changing anyone else’s view. Lessons and messages stay in the language they were written in. See the bilingual interface.

  • Arabic and Islamic studies next to the Australian Curriculum

Each subject is its own course with its own language, so Arabic, Qur’an and Islamic studies sit next to English, maths and science in one gradebook and one parent portal. See Ilmoria for Islamic and Arabic schools.

  • Records for reporting and registration

The gradebook keeps every mark with the teacher’s feedback, rubrics and competencies show what each student can do, and staff confirm and lock final grades, so the evidence behind your reports is in one place.

  • Admissions and parents

Families apply through a private link, upload documents, sit placement tests in maths, English and science, and sign the handbook and school policies online. Parents follow grades, message the school by topic and print invoices and receipts; your office records fee payments. See admissions.

  • Certificates for colleges and RTOs

Completion and achievement certificates carry a serial number and a QR code that employers can check online. Ilmoria is a learning platform, not a student management system for AVETMISS reporting, so RTOs keep their reporting where it is today.

Data protection: what to check

In Australia, the Privacy Act 1988 and its Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) apply to Australian Government agencies and to most private-sector organisations with an annual turnover above A$3 million, which can include independent schools, while government schools follow state or territory privacy laws. Organisations covered by the Act must report eligible data breaches to the OAIC and to the people affected. Amendments passed in 2024 require the OAIC to make a Children’s Online Privacy Code, which it aims to register by December 2026. Review collection notices, who can see each record, retention and any disclosure overseas, since Ilmoria is a US company. In Ilmoria each school’s data is kept separate and each role sees only its own screens. We make no compliance claim on your behalf; see the OAIC and take legal advice.

Common questions

Does Ilmoria connect to state school systems or NAPLAN?

No. Ilmoria does not connect to state or territory education department systems, NAPLAN or senior certificate authorities, and it has no public API. Official results and submissions stay where your state requires them. Progress reports export as CSV, and documents print or save as PDF.

Can Ilmoria handle our grading and reports?

During the course, the gradebook shows points and percentages, and teachers mark against rubrics and track competencies. Final course grades use letters on the 4.0 scale, with GPA on transcripts. If your reports use A to E achievement standards, ask us in a demo how they would map before you commit.

Does Ilmoria suit community language schools?

Yes. Each class or level becomes a section with its own courses, teachers and timetable, and students use lessons, PDF course books and quizzes between sessions. Parents follow progress and fees in English or Arabic, and teacher and parent accounts are free. The smallest yearly agreement is $1,500, so check pricing first.

Can RTOs use Ilmoria?

Yes, for learning and assessment: courses, quizzes with integrity checks, trainee groups and QR-verified certificates. Ilmoria doesn’t produce AVETMISS reports or connect to government training systems, so your student management system and reporting stay as they are. See Ilmoria for training centres.

Can we be invoiced in Australian dollars?

Prices are the same in every country and set in US dollars, from $9 per active student a year, with teacher, parent and staff accounts free. On request, we can invoice the same amount in Australian dollars. See pricing for the plans.
