An English and Arabic LMS for schools and colleges in Canada

كندا

Ilmoria is an LMS for Canadian schools, colleges and training providers that teach in English and need Arabic too: Islamic independent schools, weekend and heritage-language programmes, Arabic courses at colleges and universities, and training centres with Arabic-speaking learners. Everything runs in English, and any user can switch every screen to Arabic, right to left.

Education and training in Canada

Provinces run education

Canada has no federal ministry of education: each province and territory runs its own school system, curriculum and rules for independent schools, and the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) coordinates between them. Some provinces partly fund independent schools, including faith-based schools, and colleges and universities are overseen provincially too.

Credits, transcripts and two official languages

The school year usually runs from September to June. High schools award credits towards a provincial diploma, and families and colleges expect transcripts they can rely on. English and French are both official languages, every province has French-language schools, and Quebec has its own rules on the use of French.

Arabic in Canada

Arabic is one of the most common languages spoken at home in Canada after English and French. It is taught in Islamic schools, weekend and heritage-language programmes, some school boards’ international-language classes and university Arabic departments, often to students whose parents read Arabic more easily than English.

Learning management for schools and universities in Canada

  • English and Arabic, not French

Every screen works in English, and any parent, student or teacher can switch to Arabic, fully right to left. Ilmoria has no French interface, so it suits English-language and Arabic-teaching settings rather than French-language schools. See the bilingual interface.

  • Final grades and transcripts

Teachers confirm final grades, administrators lock them, and transcripts with GPA and credits are issued as PDFs in your school’s design after an approval step. See the gradebook.

  • Islamic and heritage-language programmes

Arabic, Qur’an and Islamic studies run as ordinary courses next to provincial subjects, and weekend programmes set up each level as a section with its own timetable. See Ilmoria for Islamic and Arabic schools.

  • Admissions and parents

Families apply through a private link, upload documents and sit placement tests, then sign the handbook and school policies online. Parents follow grades, message the school by topic and print invoices and receipts; your office records tuition payments. See the parent portal.

  • Colleges and training providers

Colleges get course registration with prerequisite and clash checks, GPA and academic standing. Training providers run trainee groups and issue completion certificates with a QR code that employers can check online.

Data protection: what to check

In Canada, PIPEDA covers private-sector organisations’ commercial activities in most provinces, while Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec have their own private-sector laws, and public schools, school boards and universities usually fall under provincial public-sector privacy laws. Quebec’s Law 25 adds duties such as a privacy impact assessment before personal information is communicated outside Quebec. A bill to replace PIPEDA, Bill C-36, was introduced in 2026, so check where it stands. Review consent, who can see each record, retention and where data is hosted, especially because Ilmoria is a US company. In Ilmoria each school’s data is kept separate and each role sees only its own screens. We make no compliance claim on your behalf; see the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and your provincial commissioner, and take legal advice.

Common questions

Is Ilmoria available in French?

No. Ilmoria’s screens are in English and Arabic only, and there is no French interface. It suits English-language schools, Islamic and Arabic programmes, colleges and training providers. Institutions in Quebec, or anywhere French is required, should check their language obligations before choosing any software. Demos and support are in English or Arabic.

Does Ilmoria connect to provincial student information systems?

No. Ilmoria does not connect to ministry or school board systems and has no public API, so official submissions stay where your province requires them. Schools use Ilmoria for the teaching, grading and family contact they run themselves. Progress reports export as CSV, and transcripts and certificates print or save as PDF.

Does Ilmoria suit weekend Arabic and Islamic programmes?

Yes. Each level becomes a section with its own courses, teachers and timetable, and students use lessons, PDF course books and quizzes between sessions. Parents follow progress and fees in English or Arabic, and teacher and parent accounts are free. See Ilmoria for Islamic and Arabic schools.

Can we be invoiced in Canadian dollars?

Prices are the same in every country and set in US dollars, from $9 per active student a year, with teacher, parent and staff accounts free. On request, we can invoice the same amount in Canadian dollars. See pricing for the plans.

Can we try Ilmoria before we buy?

Yes. Open a free demo school for 7 days, with ready-made accounts for administrator, teacher, student, parent and student affairs and a guided tour on every page. Switch between English and Arabic, then book a call in English or Arabic to go through your grading, transcripts and admissions.
