An English and Arabic LMS for schools and universities in Türkiye

تركيا

Ilmoria is an LMS for institutions in Türkiye (Turkey) that teach or serve families in English and Arabic: international schools, schools and courses for Arabic-speaking families, Arabic programmes, English-medium university departments with Arab students, and training centres. Every screen works in English and in Arabic, fully right to left. Ilmoria is not available in Turkish, so it fits where English or Arabic is the working language.

Education and training in Türkiye

MEB and YÖK

The Ministry of National Education (MEB) runs public schools and licenses private schools, including international schools that mainly serve foreign families, and twelve years of schooling are compulsory. Universities, public and foundation alike, are overseen by the Council of Higher Education (YÖK). The ministry and universities run their own official systems, and Ilmoria does not connect to them.

Two semesters and English-medium study

The school year runs from September to June in two semesters, with a winter break between them. Many universities teach some or all of their programmes in English, and Türkiye attracts large numbers of international students, many of them from Arabic-speaking countries.

Arabic in Türkiye

Arabic is taught in İmam Hatip schools, as an elective in many other schools and in university theology and Arabic departments. Türkiye is also home to a large Arabic-speaking population, including many Syrian families, so schools and training centres often serve parents who read Arabic first.

Learning management for schools and universities in Türkiye

  • English and Arabic, not Turkish

Every screen works in English and in Arabic, and each user picks one; Arabic is fully right to left. There is no Turkish interface, so Ilmoria suits international schools, Arabic programmes and English-medium courses rather than Turkish-language schools. See the bilingual interface.

  • Admissions for families on the move

Families apply through a private link, upload documents and sit placement tests in maths, English and science online, even before they arrive. Your team reviews and accepts, and students are enrolled in every course for their grade. See admissions.

  • Parents who read Arabic

Arabic-speaking parents follow grades, message the school by topic and print invoices and receipts in Arabic, while teachers keep working in English. Messages are never machine-translated. See the parent portal.

  • Registration for English-medium programmes

Programmes taught in English can set up study plans, run course registration with prerequisite and clash checks, and follow GPA and academic standing, with every screen also available in Arabic. See course registration.

  • Certificates for training centres

Course completion and achievement certificates carry a serial number and a QR code that employers can check online, in Türkiye or abroad.

Data protection: what to check

In Türkiye, personal data is protected by the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, Law No. 6698 (KVKK), supervised by the Personal Data Protection Authority and its Board. Amendments in force since June 2024 changed the rules for transferring personal data abroad, including standard contracts that must be notified to the Authority, and many data controllers must also register in the VERBİS registry. Because Ilmoria is a US company, review how any transfer abroad would be covered, along with the legal basis or explicit consent you rely on, who can see each record and how long it is kept. In Ilmoria each school’s data is kept separate and each role sees only its own screens. We make no compliance claim on your behalf; check the Authority’s website and take advice from counsel.

Common questions

Is Ilmoria available in Turkish?

No. Ilmoria’s screens are in English and Arabic only. It fits international schools, Arabic programmes, English-medium departments and training centres that work in English or Arabic. Lessons and messages stay in the language people write them in, but menus, buttons and documents are in English or Arabic.

Does Ilmoria connect to e-Okul or other MEB systems?

No. Ilmoria does not connect to e-Okul or any other MEB or YÖK system, and it does not replace them. Official records stay wherever the ministry or YÖK requires them. Institutions use Ilmoria for the teaching and family contact they run themselves, and progress reports export as CSV.

Can Arabic-speaking parents use Arabic while teachers use English?

Yes. Each person chooses their interface language and can switch at any time, so a teacher marks in English while a parent reads the same grades in Arabic, fully right to left. Text people write is never machine-translated, so messages arrive exactly as written.

Can we be invoiced in Turkish lira?

Prices are the same in every country and set in US dollars, from $9 per active student a year, with teacher, parent and staff accounts free. On request, we invoice the same amount in Turkish lira. See pricing for the plans.

Are demos and support available in Turkish?

Not at the moment: demo calls and support are in English or Arabic. You can also open a free demo school for 7 days and explore every role at your own pace, with a guided tour on each page.
